Challenge #29

The Scene

There is a pier extending into a rather large lake. A man is sitting in a chair, fishing pole extended. It is sunset and a breeze is blowing.


The Rules

1. Who are they? What is going on? Why are they where they are?
2. 1st person POV but it can't be the man in the chair.
3. You may introduce one other person.
4. There must be a large dog either visible or implied in the story.
5. You must use the phrase: "I didn't know you could die from that."

A couple walks along a lakeside path, holding hands. They stop and the man points to the lake.

1. Where are they? What are they doing? Why are they where they are?
2. Use 3rd Person POV.
3. You must introduce two more characters.
4. There must be a bicycle in the scene.
5. You must used the phrase: "No swimming in the nude."

The Scene

Midnight in a heavy forest. Someone walks a narrow path carrying a bundle. Rain is falling.

The Rules

1. Where are they? What are they doing? Why are they where they are?
2. Use 3rd Person POV.
3. You may introduce on character into the scene.
4. There must be a burial ground of some sort in the area.
5. You must used the phrase: "The ground will be as soft as a feather bed."

Challenge #26

The Scene

The horizon glowed as the sun edged its way out of the earth for a new day. The breeze was cool and pushed shrubs and tree limbs about. A woman strolled across a deck with a cup of coffee, breathing in the aroma with a smile.

The Rules:

1. Who are they? What are they doing? Why are they where they are?

2. Use 1st person POV.

3. You may introduce only one other character that is human.

4. There must be a horse in the scene.

5. You must use the phrase:
"I'll take that in cash, please, small denominations."

6. Someone must laugh with genuine mirth.


New Bonus Rule:

7. Write the scene with a sinister tone without changing rules 4-6.
